The Organised Teacher Reflecting on 2023 and Welcoming 2024

Let’s begin with a big, warm welcome to the new year! There’s often such a buzz of excitement and anticipation around this time of year that always seems to lift my spirits and bring a whole new energy to my love for all things organisation. I think that there is also something inspiring about our Australian school year structure in being able to start a new school year at the same time. All fresh all around! I wanted to take this week’s post to reflect on 2023, and bring you a little insight into what 2024 is looking like over hear at The Organised Teacher Collective. I have such a positive feeling about the next 12 months, and am very much looking forward to brining you along for the ride.

If you saw my year in review post over on Instagram, you may already know that 2023 was certainly a year of discovery, growth, challenge, and change for me – both professionally and personally. Some big moments occurred within the business side of things, such as launching the website, starting and growing an email list, launching new programs and organisation challenges, and collaborating with some amazing brands and fellow creators. It wasn’t until I took a step back and reflected that I realised just how much I had achieved within The Organised Teacher Collective in 2023. I am so proud of it all, and even more so in that this past year saw me navigating it all alongside becoming a parent. Arguably my greatest achievement to date! Here’s a little look at some of the highlights that I shared over on that Instagram post:

So, where to next in 2024?

2024 will see my return to the classroom part time after maternity leave, which I am very excited about. I certainly have some mixed emotions about being away from my young son for the day, but I am very lucky to be able to have him cared for by his wonderful grandparents. I am looking forward to jumping back into teaching in the classroom and working alongside my colleagues. And of course being able to dive right into classroom set up and organisation!

I have been working hard over this holiday period to plan and map out all things The Organised Teacher Collective in advance in order to be able to bring you alllll of the organisational goodness that you need & want in 2024. From classroom setup and decor, to physical organisation and systems, to decluttering and storage – I have big plans for it all to come your way over the next 12 months. I have a huge desire to help you make 2024 your most organised year yet!

Your Monthly Organisational Guide

One of the ways in which I plan to help you do this is through a new organisational focus each month in 2024. This will spread right through blog posts, social media content, and my weekly emails complete with free resources for you to download and utilise. First up in the month of January, we will be focusing on all things classroom setup and back to school season. Keep your eyes peeled each week as we dive right into areas including classroom set up essentials, decor, organising your first week at school, and more. I’ll be sharing helpful insights, strategies, and resources that will help you kickstart your organisation and set you up for organisational success. This is one of my favourite times of the year and I am so excited to get started with you.

Downloadable Resources

2024 will also see the continued delivery of downloadable organisation resources for both you as the teacher and for your classroom through my Teachers Pay Teachers store. Everything from classroom setup and decor, to assessment and reporting organisation, to literacy groups, daily slides, and more – I’ve got you covered. There are some key resources in the works behind the scenes ready to help make 2024 your most organised year yet! If you haven’t already, be sure to click the follow button on my store page to be updated when all new resources drop. Better still, join my email list to be the first to know and get access to exclusive freebies as a special bonus!

Professional Learning

2023 saw the introduction of professional development style content and programs at The Organised Teacher Collective. The two main programs that were on offer included Conquer the Clutter: Paper Organisation & Management for Teachers and The EOY Classroom Declutter Challenge. It was such a great experience to get these up and running for the first time, and I cannot wait to bring them to you again in 2024! Keep an eye out for additional challenges and programs over this year that have been designed to help you up your organisational game.

Your Turn to Reflect

To help you prepare for the new year, I’ve created a free template to help you reflect on 2023, what worked well, and what you want to work on over the next 12 months. Think of this as your starting point, a spring board into organisational action for 2024. We’ll reflect on your organisational achievements, challenges, and areas for focus where systems may be required.

I hope that the first week of 2024 is kind to you and allows you to rest and reenergise. 2023 was huge (in more ways than one), and I have a feeling that this year is only going to be bigger – but also even better! Thank you for being a part of our TOTC community and for allowing me to be but a small source of organisational inspiration in your life. I absolutely love what I do, and cannot wait to share even more of it with you in 2024.
